A touching tale of a wayward young man who struggles to find his identity, living in a world where he can solve any problem, except the one brewing deep within himself, until one day he meets his soul mate who opens his mind and his heart.
Education can come from everywhere. In the exact words of Will Hunting...
“See, the sad thing about a guy like you is in fifty years, you’re gonna start doing some thinking on your own, and you’re gonna come up with the fact that there are two certainties in life: one, don’t do that. And two, you dropped a hundred and fifty grand on a fucking education you could have got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library.“
Williams is brilliant! When he says "Hold your best friends head in your lap as he gasps for his last breath." The look in his eyes... And when he asks Damon if he's an Orphan, that feeling of not being able to respond... beautiful.
So most importantly, the film is about love, it's about the experiences we draw from war, it's about psychology and how therapy really works, it's about how big business manipulates knowledge, and how academia is corrupt, and how we think we know people from a painting. It's about growth, and what being an adult means.
